A new God of War game is reportedly on the way this year, centering on a side story that delves into Greek mythology. According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, this title will be new and isn’t just another remaster collection. It aims to focus on the rich tapestry of Greek myths, moving away from the Norse narratives found in God of War (2018) and Ragnarok.
The term “side story” raises some questions. Does it mean we’re looking at a more minor experience that’s too large for traditional DLC? Think about titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales or Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Fans may recall that several prequels have already explored Greek themes, including two PSP games and God of War: Ascension, which was released on PS3.
The original three entries in the series were steeped in Greek mythology. Although rumors circulated about potential remastered editions being announced for the franchise’s 20th anniversary, Sony clarified that no new games would debut during a recent exhibition. They did announce the release of Dark Odyssey cosmetic DLC, celebrating those two decades.
