Have you seen the latest talks about Monster Hunter Wilds…? IGN just dropped a fresh 9-minute gameplay video featuring the Rompopolo monster at Oilwell Basin. The big news is that Capcom has announced their second open beta test, which is scheduled for February. This time around, we’ll get to tackle an additional monster!
But before you get too excited, I must say the performance improvements promised from feedback on the first beta might not be included just yet. The first round had some major hiccups in optimization, which Capcom is aware of but hasn’t fully addressed for this beta. So don’t expect it to reflect what we’ll see in the final game.
The gameplay shows some cool mechanics like two-weapon states and Sheathed and Drawn modes. In Sheathed Mode, you’ll zip around faster while using items. Meanwhile, Drawn Mode slows your movement but allows you to unleash your attacks on those pesky monsters!
You can also hop onto the Seikreit, a creature that serves as transport and support during hunts! How awesome is that? It can lead you to your target monster while letting you heal or gather items along the way. Plus, with tools like the Slinger and Hooker at your disposal (yes, I giggled), you’ll have plenty of ways to interact with your environment.
Focus Mode looks like it will add up to everything, and I think aim assists on wounds for extra damage; it’s all about hitting those weak points now!
Sneak peek time: here are those videos I mentioned earlier:
