NBA 2K25 has drawn attention after a player revealed spending a staggering $32,831.68 on microtransactions in just five months. This amount was spent exclusively on Virtual Currency Packs, which are used to unlock cards and content within the game.
The spending started on March 31, 2025, and went on until August 5, 2025, the day the footage was recorded. Each transaction was made through the PlayStation Store, with some purchases costing as much as $160.48 each. Wow, that’s a lot of money for in-game currency.
The video showing this spending spree was posted on X by Troydan, who highlighted YouTuber 2KOG going through his transaction history. Despite this considerable investment, 2KOG admitted he still hasn’t unlocked all the best cards in the game. Guess they’re hoping it works, but it sure sounds like chasing these cards can get expensive and frustrating.
“One thing’s for sure, I will not spend this much again, because you don’t get rewarded for it. As much as I spent, I should have everything in the game, but it’s not even close,” he said. That’s a clear warning to anyone thinking about jumping into microtransactions for NBA 2K25 content creation or personal progress.
It’s also worth noting that NBA 2K26 will be released on September 5, 2025, making all these purchases effectively obsolete if 2KOG decides to move on to the new game. Kinda a harsh reality when you think about it…
