The Last of Us Part I PC port has been met with a barrage of negative reviews on Steam, as players are still reporting numerous issues, such as crashes, long loading times, and poor performance. As a result, the game’s user review score on Steam has dipped to a “Mostly Negative” rating. However, Naughty Dog, the game’s developer, has acknowledged these issues and is working to resolve them.
In a list of known issues published by Naughty Dog, the developer highlighted problems such as shaders taking longer to load than expected, performance and stability degradation while shaders load in the background, potential memory leaks, and older graphics drivers causing instability or game launch failures, even for systems meeting minimum requirements.
Today, on March 29, Naughty Dog has assured players that they are actively working on patches to address these concerns and will provide updates as they become available. The developer also took to Twitter to address the situation, stating:
“The Last of Us Part I PC players: we’ve heard your concerns, and our team is actively investigating multiple issues you’ve reported. We will continue to update you, but our team is prioritizing updates and will address issues in upcoming patches.”
In a promising development, The Last of Us Part I has received a minor 36MB update on Steam. The patch notes for the update can be found in this article.
