Bandai Namco is expanding the team behind Digimon after the commercial success of Digimon Story Time Stranger, producer Ryosuke Hara told 4Gamer in a recent interview translated by Automaton.
Hara confirmed the company is “currently placing a strong emphasis on collaboration with Toei Animation and other affiliated companies when it comes to Digimon.” He added that the studio is “gradually expanding in scale and working on establishing a structure that will allow us to grow in a sustainable way.”
Time Stranger itself took roughly eight years to develop and release, and Hara says Bandai Namco wants to avoid repeating such lengthy cycles. The producer also noted the team has “various things in mind,” which suggests multiple Digimon projects are being considered even if formal announcements could still be some time off.
The full interview is available on 4Gamer, with an English summary and translation posted at Automaton. Fans should expect Bandai Namco to take a more active role in managing the Digimon franchise going forward, including closer ties with animation partners and a bigger internal team to handle multiple projects.
