Patch 1.040.03.02 requires the latest client for online play, recommends NVIDIA 581.57 or AMD 25.9.1 drivers, and fixes a foliage label bug plus a render distance crash.

Monster Hunter Wilds update version 1.040.03.02 was released on Friday January 30, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. UTC (Thursday January 29, 2026 11:00 p.m. PT). Players must install the latest game version to access online multiplayer and downloadable content.

The update lists recommended driver versions for a stable experience on PC. NVIDIA GeForce users should update to 581.57 or newer. AMD Radeon users should update to 25.9.1 or newer. The notes warn that AMD Radeon driver versions 25.10.2 and higher have been identified as causing issues on certain PCs using cards such as the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT and RX 7800 XT.

Video Driver Version

Please update to the following driver versions to ensure the most stable experience possible.

  • NVIDIA GeForce: 581.57 or newer
  • AMD Radeon: 25.9.1 or newer

Note: Some issues have been identified with AMD Radeon drivers versions 25.10.2 and higher on certain PCs using AMD Radeon graphics cards such as the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT/7800 XT.

Note: This information is subject to change at any time due to factors such as NVIDIA and AMD support availability.

Bug Fixes and Balance Adjustments

  • Fixed an issue where two of the setting labels under the option for Foliage Density (Options → Graphics → Foliage Density) were blank when the text language was set to any besides Japanese.
  • Fixed an issue where, when the Options → Graphics → Render Distance option was set to “Lowest,” fast traveling between the Windward Plains base camp and the training area could cause the game to crash.
