Monster Hunter Wilds’ sales cooled hard after its blockbuster launch

Capcom said the game sold 132,000 copies in the quarter ending in March, even as lifetime sales climbed past 11.4 million.

Monster Hunter Wilds is still a massive seller for Capcom, but the pace has cooled a lot since its February 2025 launch.

Capcom said the game has now moved more than 11.4 million copies overall, yet it only sold 132,000 units in the quarter ending in March. That is a steep drop for a title that opened with record-setting numbers for the publisher.

The comparison gets even rougher when you line it up against older entries. Monster Hunter Rise sold 151,000 copies in the same period, while Sunbreak sold 142,000, both ahead of Wilds in Capcom’s latest results.

That slump fits with earlier comments from Capcom president Haruhito Tsujimoto, who said the company sees PS5 pricing as a real hurdle for Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom will want the next set of numbers to look healthier than this quarter. Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, and Instagram.
