Modern Warfare 4 Will Launch With 12 Maps and 4 New Multiplayer Modes
Shipment will join the 6v6 lineup on October 27, while Possession and Infected are planned for the Pre-Season 1 window.

Modern Warfare 4 will launch on October 23, 2026, with 12 Core 6v6 maps, three 32v32 Ground War maps and four 2v2 Gunfight maps. The lineup also includes Kill Block, a modular battleground for 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight. Call of Duty’s multiplayer rundown names four new modes for launch, while Shipment will join the 6v6 rotation on October 27.
Maps cover small arenas and large battlefields
The 12 launch maps for standard 6v6 are Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm and Transit 213. Their settings range from a French rail-terminal warehouse and a South Korean fishing village to a Mumbai residential district and snow-covered New York rooftops.
Ground War’s three maps are Imjin Farmland, Wolves Stadium and Forest, each set around Hajin. The locations span open farmland, a dense stadium district and a wooded hillside. The four 2v2 Gunfight maps are Cafe, Library, NYC and Smuggler.
Kill Block switches its layout between rounds and has more than 500 possible combinations. Some sections draw on familiar Modern Warfare locations, including Crash, Highrise and Shoot House. Shipment, set in a Russian harbor, will arrive four days after the game’s launch.
Four new modes change the match objectives
Inflation turns cash into both a target and a liability. Players collect money from eliminated opponents, but carrying enough triggers a High Value Target reveal to both teams. Overtime raises cash multipliers near the end of the 10-minute match, and the team with the most money wins.
Hijack centers on a Data Spike that teams can carry, throw or pass to teammates. Planting it at the enemy Comm Station earns points over time, so attackers must defend the upload while opponents try to stop it. Collateral adds a buy phase to round-based bomb-site combat: players start with a pistol and $800, earn cash for actions such as planting or winning rounds, and spend it on weapons and equipment. There are no respawns or custom loadouts, and the first team to win six rounds takes the match.
Ground War’s new Combat Outpost mode builds on a three-flag fight. Capturing outposts adds team spawn locations and generates points, while reinforcing captured positions can unlock rewards such as Local UAV coverage, a JLTV airdrop or a Light Tank delivered to headquarters.
The rest of the launch mode selection includes Frontline, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Gunfight and Gun Game. A selection of modes will also have Hardcore variants, which use a limited HUD, friendly fire and reduced health without regeneration. Proving Grounds offers movement tutorials and timed courses for players who want to practice before entering matches.
Possession and returning mode Infected are planned for the Pre-Season 1 period ahead of Halloween. In Possession, eliminating an opponent moves the player to that opponent’s location and transfers their loadout. In Infected, one player starts on the infected team, and each Survivor they eliminate joins the group.
