Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer is scheduled to open at midnight local time on Oct. 23, but U.S. players may be able to join on Oct. 22 by changing their Activision account location to New Zealand. The early access times for U.S. players are 4:00 a.m. PT and 7:00 a.m. ET on Oct. 22.
The workaround changes the location on an Activision account, not the console’s system region. It is described as available across platforms, rather than being limited to Xbox.
Campaign Early Access is live, and DMZ Early Access is scheduled to begin globally at 10:00 AM PT on Oct. 20, part of the game’s staggered mode rollout.
There is a tradeoff. Connecting to servers in New Zealand may mean higher ping, and a large influx of players could cause server issues. The early start could give players time to progress through level unlocks and learn the Multiplayer meta before the standard local launch.
Would the chance to start leveling early be worth the possible ping hit? For more on MW4’s staggered access windows, stay connected on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
