FromSoftware has quietly teased an update for Elden Ring Nightreign that adds “enhanced” boss fights. While the developer left players guessing what this means, modders have already uncovered clues deep in the game’s files, letting us see what might be coming soon.
Digging into the soundtrack files, fans noticed unused third-phase themes for every boss battle, which hints at more challenging, extended fights. Then came the discovery of unused relics tied to each boss, which look like rewards you’d earn by beating them in a harder mode. The real kicker? Files that let you fight these enhanced bosses right now, thanks to a mod.
The Enhanced Nightlord Fights mod by TerraMag on NexusMods unlocks these battles. Footage on their YouTube channel shows bosses with new attacks and even some with additional enemies joining the fray. It’s already tough enough to survive two nights in the Lands Between before it collapses, and now these fights look like they might push players to their limits.
These enhanced fights aren’t perfect yet. The updated boss models and attacks feel rough, suggesting they might be early concepts rather than finished content. Still, it’s interesting to see what FromSoftware might be cooking up behind the scenes, and kinda cool that modders gave us a sneak peek before the official release.
FromSoftware hasn’t announced an exact release date, only saying the update will arrive sometime this month. They’ve also promised more Nightfarers to play as and new bosses to expand the roster. Nightreign lacks a boss on Malenia’s difficulty level, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the next update brings a punishing new challenge to test our skills.
What do you think about these enhanced bosses? Are you excited to face tougher versions of Nightreign’s foes, or worried it might be too much? Drop your thoughts below—I’m curious to hear your take.
