Palworld players recently lost the ability to glide with their Pals following a legal dispute with Nintendo. A mod restores this popular mechanic just days after the feature was removed, allowing players to soar across the map with their companions again.
On May 8, the developers of Palworld announced that gliding with Pals would no longer be available. This change came because of an ongoing lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, who argue that Palworld infringes on their intellectual property. In November 2024, the game had already been forced to remove the ability to summon Pals by throwing Pal Spheres.
Many fans were disappointed when the gliding feature was removed, as it was a favorite part of the gameplay experience. However, two days after the update that removed it, a modder uploaded a file on Nexus Mods that reverses the changes made in patch v0.5.5.
The Glider Restoration mod allows players to glide with their Pals again, provided they have a Glider in their inventory. The mod creator mentions that while the feature isn’t perfect, it successfully brings back the flying mechanic. Interestingly, the mod works in multiplayer sessions, but other players without the mod will only see regular gliders.
The mod page also notes compatibility with other mods, though conflicts may arise with mods that alter the models of glider Pals. To avoid visual glitches or bugs, it’s recommended that you uninstall those conflicting mods before using the Glider Restoration mod.
A detailed timeline and explanation are available if you want to learn more about the ongoing lawsuit and how it has affected Palworld. A helpful guide is also provided for players who haven’t yet crafted the best Glider.
