Minecraft’s Chaos Cubed update looks lined up for June 16
The current estimate points to Minecraft 1.26.2, with sulfur caves, the Sulfur Cube mob, and a screen-warping sulfur water block in the mix.

Mojang’s next Minecraft drop is pointing toward a June 16, 2026 release, with Chaos Cubed currently the best estimate for Minecraft 1.26.2.
The game has settled into a quarterly cadence since the move away from annual overhauls, and that timing fits the pattern Mojang has used for the newer drops. Weekly snapshots are also still feeding 1.26.2 testing before it reaches the live game.
Launch timing has not been pinned down, but past Minecraft updates, patches, and snapshots have usually shown up around 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT. Platform timing can still vary a bit.
What Chaos Cubed adds
The update brings a new cave biome called sulfur caves, along with two new blocks and a sulfur water block that distorts the screen. The spotlight mob is the Sulfur Cube, which can absorb nearby blocks and pick up traits from them. If it takes in ice, it becomes much slipperier and can slide much farther when struck.
The Minecraft Live video also showed the sulfur cubes being used in carnival-style minigames, including curling setups and parkour routes.
