IO Interactive’s MindsEye just launched, but it’s already hitting some bumps, especially with performance on PC. The good news? The first patch is on its way this week and aims to tackle those annoying issues like stuttering and optimization. This update might smooth things if you’ve struggled with the game running roughshod.
Right now, MindsEye is running at 4K with DLSS Quality on an NVIDIA RTX 5090, nets about 53 FPS minimum, which is low for such a powerhouse GPU. So, fingers crossed the patch delivers that 5-10 FPS bump IO Interactive hinted at. It’s worth noting the game uses Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen, so hitting a steady 60 FPS at native 4K is a tall order, even on the latest hardware.
Stuttering is one of the biggest headaches reported, and it can kill the vibe. The patch will bring CPU and GPU performance improvements, plus memory tweaks—hopefully easing those choppy moments. IO Interactive plans to update the engine to UE5.6 later, which has better asset streaming and might help further with smoothness.
Also, for those who hate Depth of Field effects but were stuck trying to disable them through config files, the patch adds a proper in-game option to toggle or adjust them. That’s a welcome relief for many players who begged for it.
Interestingly, some folks seem to want MindsEye to flop, but honestly, it’s not a lost cause. The devs are actively working on fixes and improvements, so maybe it’s worth giving them some credit here. Remember how The Callisto Protocol got a rough start but gained respect over time? MindsEye could follow a similar path.

I’ll test this patch as soon as it drops and share whether it really smooths out the gameplay. What do you think about MindsEye’s rocky start? Are you rooting for it to get better or already checked out?
