MindsEye’s comeback push just took another hit after 170 more layoffs
Kotaku sources say Build A Rocket Boy is down to around 80 employees after the studio's third round of cuts since the game launched in summer 2025.

Build A Rocket Boy has reportedly cut about 170 more jobs, another hard blow for MindsEye and the studio’s attempt to steady the game.
According to Kotaku, the latest round leaves the company with roughly 80 employees. That would make this the third wave of layoffs since the open-world shooter launched in summer 2025.
Before this latest cut, Build A Rocket Boy said it wanted to rework and effectively relaunch MindsEye to repair its reputation. The game has still been getting updates, including a recent patch that added a new story mission and was meant to open the door to a broader recovery.
Unionised employees also accused the studio of privacy violations last month in the monitoring-software dispute, while studio leadership blamed the game’s problems on sabotage.
