Microsoft’s XBOX 25th-Anniversary Console Could Cost Nearly $900, Leak Claims

Dealabs claims the translucent green system could launch with a disc drive on November 27, 2026, although Microsoft has not confirmed either detail.

Microsoft’s special XBOX console for the brand’s 25th anniversary could cost $899.99 in North America and €899.99 in Europe, according to a Dealabs report. The price and launch timing remain unconfirmed by Microsoft.

Microsoft previously announced an X25 design inspired by the original XBOX, with a translucent green finish for the console and matching controller. The system was shown at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, while the reported release date is November 27, 2026, which would place the anniversary system on Black Friday.

Mattel’s $329.99 OG Xbox set is display-only

Mattel’s Brick Shop OG Xbox building set offers a much cheaper way to display that nostalgia, although it cannot run games. The kit costs $329.99 and includes an accompanying Duke-style controller design, while the rumored X25 would be a fully playable Xbox Series X console.

Mattel’s earlier Xbox 360 building-block model carried a $150 MSRP despite offering the same lights, sounds, and level of detailing described for the newer kit. That older product used Mattel’s MEGA brand, previously known as MEGA BLOKS, and Mattel has identified it as a separate product from the new Brick Shop release. The comparison turns the newer set into a notably more expensive collectible before the X25’s potential price even enters the conversation.

What the leak says about the XBOX Series X25

The rumored package would include a disc drive, but it would not be the 2TB version of the XBOX Series X. The reported model would retain the current Series X’s core performance and features rather than deliver a major technical upgrade, making the translucent chassis and anniversary design its main appeal.

At that price level, the anniversary model would sit far above the standard console’s original $499 MSRP from its November 10, 2020 launch.

Xbox’s U.S. price increase on August 1, 2026 moved the 1TB disc-drive Xbox Series X from $649.99 to $799.99—the model receiving the 25th-anniversary makeover. If the leak is accurate, the X25 would add another $100 for its translucent chassis and anniversary design, along with the bundled controller.

The X25 controller will also be sold separately

The matching X25 Special Edition controller will be included with the console and sold separately. Its design takes inspiration from the original Xbox Duke controller, but no standalone price has been announced.

The Dealabs report says controller pricing will be discussed at gamescom 2026. Xbox has not confirmed that schedule, and the standard Xbox Wireless Gaming Controller currently retails for $69.99, so the X25’s separate MSRP remains unknown.

Microsoft has not confirmed the price or release date

For now, both the reported price and November 27 date should be treated as unconfirmed leak details. Microsoft has announced the anniversary hardware, but it has not officially revealed when the X25 will launch or how much it will cost.
