If you’ve ever been stuck in an endless queue at the airport, you know that feeling of dread and frustration when all you want to do is get airborne. Our friends at Microsoft have managed to get their flight deck in order because the launch issues plaguing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 have finally been resolved! Yes, folks, it’s time to dust off your aviator sunglasses and strap yourselves in.
The much-anticipated edition of this beloved flight sim dropped on November 19, but not without some severe turbulence. Many players, myself included, were left twiddling their thumbs while staring at a queue screen longer than my last layover. And for those brave enough to make it past that initial hurdle? Good luck with lengthy load times freezing at a heart-stopping 97%!
Jorg Neumann Saves the Day
The franchise head honcho, Jorg Neumann, recently took to the game’s official website with news that should send shivers down your spine well! “We are happy to report that the issues regarding access and streaming have been resolved,” he declared. Who knew that fixing servers could sound so triumphant?
“The distribution layer capacity has been increased… Our servers and services are also all performing as expected.”
That’s right. They cranked up the server capacity like a barista, boosting your caffeine level before an early morning flight! With reliability now soaring above 99.99%, we can finally start planning those virtual trips across scenic locales without pulling our hair out.
Neumann didn’t stop there. He revealed that three days after launch, a hotfix was deployed to stabilize player experience and address several glaring issues. Just like patching holes in an airplane fuselage before takeoff, safety first!
This December looks promising, too! A second patch slated for December 2 promises further stability improvements, a much-needed upgrade if I ever heard one, and another larger patch will be rolled out during the week of December 9. Talk about holiday cheer!
“Until we identify which content is causing these issues, we will temporarily deactivate all MSFS non-aircraft content from MSFS 2024.”
This leads us into some murky territory regarding third-party add-ons from previous editions causing Major headaches (or bellyaches?) for users trying to take off smoothly in version 2024. They’re going old school by temporarily deactivating non-aircraft content until they can pinpoint what’s dragging down performance faster than my last date.
The upcoming December patches promise exciting features such as allowing players to enable or disable content independently, a nifty little addition for troubleshooting troublesome mods, and a safe boot option ensuring smoother launches even when third-party content tries playing hardball. If only real-life flying were this simple… but we’ll take what we can get! The skies ahead look brighter than ever! Until the next time, see you around!
