Metroid Prime 4, developed by Retro Studios for Nintendo, has been rated in Brazil as expectations build for Nintendo Direct news about its final release window. The classification gave the title a +14 rating, and the game remains scheduled for release sometime this year.
Journalist ‘Necro’ Felipe Lima first flagged the Brazilian listing, which names the Retro Studios Switch 2 sequel. The rating is another public sign that Nintendo may be preparing a promotional push. While ratings are not an exact indicator of launch timing, they often precede formal announcements.

This follows news last month that Metroid Prime 4 had been rated by North America’s ESRB and received a T for Teen. A month earlier, South Korea’s classification board had also rated it, giving multiple regions a clear administrative trail. Nintendo originally announced Metroid Prime 4 at E3 2017, then restarted development, moving work from a previously reported Bandai Namco team back to Retro Studios to rebuild the game.
Trailers released in March and April were explicit about platforms and technical goals: the footage and posts underline plans for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, mouse controls on Switch 2, and a target of up to 120FPS. No firm date is public. The clips left a clear impression that a formal reveal or date could arrive alongside a Nintendo broadcast.
Aside from ratings and trailers, a recent advertising hiccup in London briefly implied the game was already out; Nintendo UK corrected an Underground ad that claimed the Switch 2 game was “out now”. The marketing slip and multiple regional ratings together make a Nintendo Direct announcement feel more likely than not, though Nintendo has not confirmed any specific date or event for the reveal.
