PlayStation and Arc System Works are sending players back into the ring. The second PlayStation 5 closed beta for MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls opens December 5 at midnight Pacific Time and runs for 72 hours through December 7 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
The new test grows the playable cast to eight characters with Spider-Man and Ghost Rider joining the lineup. Teams are four characters deep, so players will be able to mix heroes and villains into new synergies and matchups. Two new stages arrive in this build. Savage Land and X-Mansion are added to the rotation and include interactive elements meant to change how rounds play out.
Engine work and balance changes from the previous test are included. The team rolled in performance optimizations, visual polish, and UX improvements based on player feedback, and PlayStation will send reminder emails to past beta participants who are already registered.
The beta begins Friday, December 5, at midnight Pacific Time and runs without scheduled breaks until Monday, December 7, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. On December 5 and December 6 players can take on CPU opponents and play online matches, while on December 7 only online matches will be available. Players who took part in the first MARVEL Tōkon beta will automatically be registered for this test. Those who signed up but did not get into the first session should look for an invitation email. New players can still sign up and try to get a slot by following the beta sign-up link. Beta sign-up coverage includes earlier context and signup pointers for readers who missed the first wave.
Arc System Works brings an evident fighting pedigree to a team-based Marvel brawler, which makes this beta a proper stress test for both systems and spectacle. The added characters and stages will change tempo and match construction in ways that could reveal balance gaps early. The developer plans to share control guides and beginner tutorials ahead of the test so new testers can jump in with a baseline of knowledge.
Expect to see players hunting for the best four-man combinations and posting feedback on frame data, stage hazards, and matchmaking. The studio has said it is collecting that feedback to drive future fixes and adjustments.
