Marvel Rivals is keeping things interesting! Just when we thought a new ranked change would stir up some excitement, NetEase flipped the script and decided to backtrack after fans made their voices heard loud and clear. Talk about a plot twist!
So here’s the scoop: less than 24 hours after announcing that they’d drop every player’s rank by four divisions mid-season, the developers were met with a massive uproar from the community. It was like watching an unexpected cliffhanger in your favorite series! They ditched the whole idea in record time while still holding on to those shiny cosmetic rewards.
The original plan had players feeling anxious as ranks would reset significantly. Instead of creating fresh competition, it seemed like a recipe for frustration. The community rallied together, and boy, did it pay off!

In an impressively quick follow-up blog post from NetEase, just about 12 hours later, they announced that there will be no mid-season rank drop! Here’s what you can look forward to
TLDR
- The first half of the season wraps up on February 21, 2025, at 8:00 AM (UTC+0). Players at Gold rank will snag the costume reward plus Crests of Honors for those in Grandmaster and above.
- No rank reset will occur at the start of the second half. Players retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half.
- You can earn new rewards by completing ten matches in Competitive mode this season. Rewards include a brand-new Gold rank costume and several Crests of Honor with distinct designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All.
The takeaway? No need to stress over losing your hard-earned ranks! Just play ten matches competitively, and boom, you’re ready for those sweet cosmetic goodies initially tied to that dreaded reset!
This rapid response has certainly stunned many in the community. Some players even wished NetEase had stuck to their guns despite backlash since there are always mixed feelings about maintaining ranks throughout a season. Others enjoyed ranking up slowly but surely, it brings its own thrill. But overall? Most players are celebrating this swift decision!
