Manor Lords has a new beta update, and players are reacting positively as the medieval city builder receives sweeping fixes and changes. Patch 0.8.046 arrives from Slavic Magic with a long list of adjustments that touch core systems like resources, maintenance, and storage while the game sits on Steam at $25.99 / £22.74, matching its lowest recorded price. Grzegorz Styczeń began Manor Lords as a solo project under the Slavic Magic name and has slowly grown a small team while keeping a tight line to player feedback. The 0.8.046 beta is unusually large for the series in scope and impact, with over 350 fixes listed by players and press, and the patch targets long-running issues with resource collection and logistics.
The update adds a resource protection option for firewood cutters and logging camps so workers will skip deforesting zones near marked resources. Maintenance calculations have moved from a time-since model to a durability counter, and buildings that are poorly maintained now carry a chance for workers to become injured or die, which changes late-game risk calculations for towns relying on fragile infrastructure. Storage and supply chains were also adjusted. Granary and Warehouse worker behavior has been reworked so storage workers can feed stalls only from storage buildings and will prioritize nearby recipients more sensibly. AI and balance tweaks are spread across the patch, and optimization, audio, and UI adjustments are included as well.
Players and community posts have reacted warmly to the scale of the work. One Steam comment called the update proof that the team “loves what they’re working on” and games journalists have noted how the changes address many of the community’s pain points. The beta still has rough edges, and some fixes may introduce new problems since the team is staging changes through Steam betas. Console PC Gaming previously covered the experimental beta after a nine-month break and noted how the project has shifted from solo dev to a small studio working through iterative, big updates.
If players want the full notes and instructions for opting into the beta the official Steam news post hosts the full write up and steps to install the test build, and the developer lists the complete changelog there. Read the official Steam news post on Steam.
Fans rebuilding their towns after 0.8.046 will find fewer of the longstanding annoyances around resource hauling and maintenance, so leave a comment on how your next playthrough goes and follow us on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
