Lost Ark in the West will return to its original developers, according to an update published on the game’s official website, as noted in a Reddit post.
The announcement confirms a change in the team responsible for the Western version of the MMORPG. Amazon Games will end its Western publishing role, with Smilegate scheduled to take over in early 2027. The game is expected to continue operating and receiving regular content updates before the handoff.
Some player data will not transfer to the new service. Smilegate’s transfer details list in-game mail, friends-list memos and group names, guild-member nicknames and memos, as well as chat messages and chat history among the affected information.
More information will be needed before players know what the return will mean for future updates and support.
