The wait is finally over! After three years of players tinkering away during its Early Access phase, Longvinter has officially launched on PC. Developed by Uuuvana Studios, this multiplayer open-world sandbox game draws inspiration from the cozy vibes of Animal Crossing. Players can now jump into the action via Steam, with a PlayStation version slated for 2026 that promises cross-play support. Exciting times ahead!
Longvinter first opened its digital doors back on February 24, 2022. Since then, fans have been eager to see how it would evolve. The developers have announced a major update with version 1.0 that delivers a slew of fresh content and mechanics that will surely shake things up for both new players and those who’ve been around since the beginning.
Main Features of Version 1.0 Update
The team at Uuuvana Studios aimed to make this update a pivotal moment in the game’s lifecycle. They’ve added new Points of Interest—namely Oil Rigs—that come with their own set of challenges and opportunities:
- Oil Rigs: These towering structures are not only visually impressive but also significantly alter fuel dynamics in Longvinter. Players can now process and steal their own fuel while fending off mercenaries from the LRI (Longvinter Resource Initiative). It’s time to take matters into your own hands!
- Heli Crash and Underground Arena: New tactical gear can be found at heli crash sites scattered across the map, while an arena invites players every hour to battle it out for top-tier loot.
- New Animals and Mounts: The game world feels livelier than ever with new wildlife including Lynx, Wolves, and Goats—and yes, they can all be ridden! Now you can style your mounts as you wish.
- Wildlife Improvements: Expect more birds flitting about the landscape along with improved roads making travel easier for newbies.
- New Equipment & Items: From buff hats that grant movement speed boosts to heavy sniper rifles, there’s plenty to add flavor to your gameplay experience.
- A Revamped Placeable Health System: Placeables will now show health stats; damaged items won’t regenerate HP until healed up—making combat strategies even more crucial.
This is just scratching the surface! Players will discover countless improvements woven into various systems throughout Longvinter. For example, you’ll find upgraded vendor catalogs brimming with delightful goodies waiting to be snatched up!
Patching Things Up: General Changes
-
- Smoother house upgrade transitions for less hassle during renovations.
- A handy feature allowing players to undo item additions without dismantling entire vendors is now available!
- You can paint cabin roofs now, because why not add some flair?
- A slight reduction in snow health drain means winter survival just got a tad easier.
The updates don’t stop there! Uuuvana Studios plans ongoing support throughout 2025, focused on refining performance across platforms like Steam Deck while addressing any bugs that crop up post-launch. Farming mechanics are already on deck for version 1.1 alongside exciting features such as renting apartments within shared communities, yes please!
