Battlefield 2042 has revealed Hazard Zone. The game mode was kept secret for a long time, even longer than the Battlefield 2042 beta. We always wanted to see a better, performance-wise improved Escape From Tarkov, and we turned towards EA’s announced Hazard Zone.
Hazard Zone is a game mode ready to be accessible in Battlefield 2042 on release, which is similar to Escape From Tarkov but expected to run with a solid performance. The reveal trailer for Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone, Escape From Tarkov Esque game mode arrived earlier, and we can already recognize multiple anomalies.
Hazard Zone won’t be like Tarkov. Instead, it’s completely different. Here, you have an objective to recover drives and extract at a designated spot, which will be your single and only exfil available at a specific time. The bad thing about this is that it’s completely different than Escape From Tarkov.
First of all, it doesn’t include the notorious in-game gunsmith that Escape From Tarkov offers. Second, it doesn’t incentivize a slow and tactical approach as players will have the freedom to run across the map at will. This is all because players won’t put anything at stake, unlike in Escape From Tarkov.
So, how does Hazard Zone look? It looks more like a Battle Royale game mode than anything else, except that you will be provided with an exfil point in the end. The point will be the only way to extraction and leaving the zone. From what we know so far, is that the game will offer 32 teams composed of 4 players at the same time, which resembles Apex Legends more than Escape From Tarkov. I personally have no clue about the developer’s attention on this game mode, but one thing definitely remains bitter.
No matter how the wingsuit makes the game look, if you compare it to Escape From Tarkov solely, you can agree with their impeccable differences. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see what EA has in plans. Battlefield 2042 is slated to release on November 19, 2021.
