LEGO Fortnite Launches ‘Expeditions’ PvE Mode Inspired by Helldivers

New co-op PvE mode 'Expeditions' adds wave-based combat and team upgrades to LEGO Fortnite.

Fortnite has just expanded its LEGO Fortnite branch with a fresh mode called Expeditions, shifting gears into PvE co-op combat. This new addition lets up to four players team up as distinct minifigure classes to battle waves of enemies, offering a different pace from the usual LEGO gameplay.

In Expeditions, you can pick from three classes, Shadow Caller, Rift Ripper, and The Hunter — each with distinct playstyles and weapon choices. The mode is structured around Missions across three maps, with more promised in future updates. Completing these Missions rewards XP and contributes to Team Projects, which provide buffs and upgrades affecting all players globally, not just your squad. This feature reminds me a bit of Helldivers 2 and its collective objectives, which is quite a cool twist for a LEGO Fortnite mode.

Interestingly, Expeditions ties into Fortnite’s ongoing seasons, currently themed around “Super,” and includes guest characters like Superman. You can jump into this mode today via the Discover section or straight from other LEGO modes like Odyssey or Brick Life.

Wondering if you’ll go into this new cooperative experience?
