Isn’t it fascinating how some games can linger in our hearts even after they’ve been canceled? It’s like that recipe you never got to try but always think about. Grab your lightsabers because we’ve got some intriguing news for Star Wars fans! A leak has appeared, showcasing the long-lost Star Wars Battlefront 3 gameplay.

In the mid-to-late 2000s, Free Radical Design was working on the third installment of this beloved series for the Nintendo Wii. Sadly, in 2008, Star Wars Battlefront 3 was delayed for reasons. Fast forward sixteen years, and voilà, a treasure trove of gameplay footage has leaked online for eager players to enjoy!

You can check out the details in the video below, which showcases a build discovered through the Free Radical Archive. This particular version dates back to just a week before its untimely cancellation.

The folks at Free Radical Archive shared that “this build, made in the final week of development, is full of content that has not been seen before by fans.” How exciting is that? They also noted bugs and issues present, which could hopefully be polished up via future modding efforts.

First revealed back in 2006, Star Wars Battlefront 3 was supposed to continue the legacy established by its predecessors. After being developed for around two years, its fate changed dramatically late in 2008. The reasons behind this cancellation remain somewhat unknown. Former co-founder Steve Ellis suggested it might be attributed to LucasArts’ reluctance to “spend big” on marketing.

I can only imagine how tantalizing it would have been if this game had seen the light of day! What do you think about these glimpses into canceled projects? Do they leave you feeling nostalgic or just plain curious?
