Leaked Black Ops 7 Gameplay Hints at Jump Pack Movement Despite Official Claims

A recent leak of Call of Duty Black Ops 7 gameplay footage has raised questions about the game’s movement mechanics. Despite Activision previously stating there would be no jetpacks or wall-running, since it’s a prequel to Black Ops 3, this new footage shows characters seemingly using jump packs, which might change how players get around.

Activision had already made it clear the game wouldn’t feature jetpacks or wall-running, trying to keep things grounded compared to its futuristic predecessors. Yet, a leaked ad clip posted online shows players launching themselves high into the air, apparently using some jump pack device. There’s nothing on their backs resembling traditional jetpacks, but some mechanism seems to pop out of their boots when they jump. Weird, right?

The leaked video, which looks like an early ad from Activision, gives a glimpse of the campaign with snippets of gameplay that include jump packs, some mechs, and even a giant character. The jump pack bit is the most eyebrow-raising since it conflicts with what the devs have said. One Twitter user called it out, thinking jetpacks were back, but Activision quickly reminded everyone there won’t be jetpacks or wall-running in this game. They promised to clear things up soon, with an official reveal coming during Gamescom Opening Night.

Since this seems to be from the single-player campaign, it’s unclear if the jump pack mechanic will show up in multiplayer too. Single-player often gets special abilities or scripted moments that don’t carry over online. Still, it wouldn’t be shocking if multiplayer got jump packs too, given how much players like fast, vertical movement. But do fans want that? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

One has to wonder: is this some middle ground between classic boots-on-the-ground and full-on futuristic movement? Maybe that’s what they were going for, giving players a taste of vertical mobility without fully jumping into jetpacks. It’s a bit of a climb to figure out, but the upcoming official reveal should shed some light.

Stay tuned for more updates when Call of Duty Black Ops 7 gets officially shown off. Until then, keep your eyes open for any other leaks or hints.
