La Quimera has just landed on Steam Early Access, surprising many since it was initially slated for a full release on April 25th. The developers at Reburn made a last-minute decision to delay the full launch and instead offer the game in Early Access form. This move raises questions about the game’s current state and what players might expect.
Originally, La Quimera was never intended to be an Early Access title. The sudden shift suggests the developers might face challenges, such as lukewarm reviews, unfinished features, or financial needs to complete development. While those images promised a game that could stand alongside current releases, the actual visuals look more like something from an older generation. It’s a bit disappointing, to say the least.
La Quimera was never available for pre-order, so there’s no risk of feeling scammed. The price is also relatively modest at 29.99 euros, which might soften the blow for those willing to take a chance on an Early Access title with clear room for improvement.
If you’re considering picking it up, my advice is to hold off until the game leaves Early Access or at least lower your expectations. In its current form, it doesn’t come close to the quality of classics like Crysis, Killzone, or STALKER. Whether the developers can polish it into something worthy remains to be seen.
