Konami Files 3 New Trademarks Covering Soldier Blade and 2 Other Classics
Alien Crush and Star Soldier join Soldier Blade in filings tied to games first developed by Hudson Soft in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Konami has filed fresh European Union trademarks for Soldier Blade, Alien Crush, and Star Soldier, putting three Hudson Soft classics back on the radar. The filings do not confirm that new games or collections are in development, but their shared timing and wording give the registrations more weight than a single routine renewal.
All three games were originally developed by Hudson Soft, the studio Konami absorbed around two decades ago. Soldier Blade and Star Soldier are known for their shoot-em-up roots, while Alien Crush is a pinball title. Each came from the same general era, with releases dating to the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Three filings share the same trademark pattern
The new EUIPO records use classification 09 for video games and classification 41 for game services. Their goods and services descriptions also use language associated with current game releases, rather than only preserving a name for older software.
Konami has kept the original trademark entries for these properties active across regional patent offices for years. The new filings have appeared on EUIPO, where registration procedures can differ from other offices. An Alien Crush record at the USPTO has been active since 2009 and was renewed in 2021.
The three applications were filed on the same day. Their individual EUIPO records cover Soldier Blade, Alien Crush, and Star Soldier.
Konami has used old trademarks before
Konami also re-registered Mystical Ninja in 2025, followed a few months later by the release of the Ganbare Goemon Daishugo! collection. That earlier sequence gives the new filings some useful context, although a trademark by itself cannot establish a release plan or timing.
For now, the clearest fact is that Konami is protecting three related Hudson Soft names in a fresh set of European filings. A collection, port, or revival remains possible, but none of those projects has been announced.
