Job Losses Surface at Halo Studios After Halo: Campaign Evolved Launch
Halo Studios has not confirmed the reported cuts, while producer Nick Treitman, contractor Paul Morris, and software engineer Caleb Lawrence have publicly identified themselves as affected and the total number of layoffs remains unknown.

Reports of job losses have surfaced at Halo Studios after Halo: Campaign Evolved launched on July 28. Halo Studios has not publicly acknowledged the reported layoffs or confirmed how many positions were affected. At least three people connected to the studio have posted that their employment ended or is ending, but those announcements do not show how many positions were affected.
The remake launched on July 28 across Xbox, PC, cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5. It was also the first game in the long-running Halo franchise to release on a Sony platform.
Nick Treitman, a producer at Halo Studios, said in a LinkedIn post that he was affected by the layoffs after 6.5 years at the studio. He described working across Art, Networking, Localization, and Narrative, along with serving as Product Owner for Halo Infinite‘s social multiplayer pillar. Treitman is seeking Producer/Project Manager roles, either remotely or in a hybrid position around Seattle.
“After 6.5 years working on Halo and dodging just as many rounds of layoffs – it has finally caught up to me.”
“I have nothing but love for Halo and the folks at the studio, this is just a tough reality in the gaming industry right now.”
Paul Morris, listed as a scrum master and contractor, also said in a LinkedIn post that his time at Halo Studios would end after the launch. “But I’m not done, and my purpose has not changed,” he wrote.
Caleb Lawrence was also publicly identified as an affected employee. He worked as a software engineer on Halo Infinite and Halo: Campaign Evolved starting in 2022.
The reports surfaced amid wider cuts at Xbox. The company laid off 1,600 staff earlier in 2026 and said another 1,600 positions would be eliminated during the coming fiscal year.
