ITEM42, the studio behind PERISH, has just announced their latest endeavor, a single-player first-person shooter called DEFICIT. This exciting new title promises to whisk players away on a thrilling adventure filled with close-quarters combat and clever tactics.

The game will be available for PC via Steam, though we’re still waiting on that all-important release date. In the meantime, let’s dive into what makes this game tick!

In DEFICIT, you step into the role of a freelance corporate spy tasked with stealing an extraordinary device known as the Interpolator from Project Sidereal’s sprawling research facilities. Picture yourself navigating through layers of security at Hadrian’s Wall, sounds pretty intense, right?

About

You are a corporate espionage freelancer. Your latest assignment: steal the reality-shifting Interpolator from the sprawling research labs of Project Sidereal. Use the device to escape the grueling defensive layers of Hadrian’s Wall and cross the threshold into the strangest frontiers of reality.

Steal

Designation: [Carrie]. Location: [Project Sidereal]. Assignment: under instruction from your shady benefactor known only as [The Client], you must steal the [Interpolator] and use it to escape.

Fight

Sneak past seasoned officers or confront them directly; it’s all about how you prefer to handle danger.

Evade

Avoid attention from The Overseer and his mechanical Prosecutors at all costs. If they catch you, well… good luck!

Key Features:

  • A single-player campaign emphasizing chaotic close-quarters combat and creatively lethal tools.
  • Diverse paths through Hadrian’s Wall—will you take risks or play it safe?
  • Create wormholes to access terrifying realities on valid surfaces.
  • Tackle various adversaries—from bumbling Oversight Officers to precise Servitor mechanoids.
  • Your environment is your arsenal; anything can be weaponized in skilled hands!

If this sounds like your cup of tea (or coffee), don’t forget to check out their announcement trailer below. And yes, I can hear those gears turning in excitement already! You can also view some stunning screenshots in their gallery linked right here:

Announce Trailer

I can’t help but wonder how many creative ways players will find to approach each mission! What tactics do you think you’ll employ when taking down foes? Join me in speculating about those epic moments, share your thoughts below!
