Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the next-gen exclusive for PlayStation 5, is setting the fans on fire. With its release date approaching, a recent LinkedIn post by Jeremy Voillot, PlayStation Studios’ Director of Sound Design, suggests the sequel might be a game-changer.
In his post, Voillot extolled the virtues of the audio team at Insomniac Games. “Such a wonderful and talented group of humans to get to work alongside,” he expressed. What caught everyone’s attention, however, was his compelling teaser: “I’m not sure the world is quite prepared for what they are about to release upon it – it’s stunning, and in my humble opinion, their best work yet.”
The original Marvel’s Spider-Man set a high benchmark for superhero-themed open-world games. Its successor is already generating immense curiosity, especially with the studio unveiling numerous new posters featuring iconic characters and breathtaking images of New York City.
While gamers await new gameplay footage, the storyline hints are equally intriguing. The most recent trailer gave fans a glimpse of Harry Osborne and the formidable Venom, setting the stage for an intense narrative. This sequel is positioned nine months after the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Players will dive deep into Peter Parker’s mission to find a cure for Harry while trapped by the Symbiote’s dark allure. An enticing feature? The ability to switch seamlessly between Peter and Miles during gameplay.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is slated for an October 20th release on PS5. As the days tick down, fans should gear up for more revelations and perhaps, as Voillot hinted, a gameplay experience unlike any other.
