iRacing has just dropped Patch 5 for its 2025 Season 2, addressing a mix of simulation tweaks, car adjustments, and track fixes. Whether you’re grinding laps or battling in close quarters, these updates might subtly shift your racing experience.
Patch Notes for 2025 Season 2 Patch 5 [2024.05.06.01]
Simulation
- Anti-Cheat: The “InstallEOSAntiCheat.bat” batch file now always installs or repairs the Anti-Cheat system, even if it thinks it’s already present. A solid move to keep the playing field clean.
- Race Control: The Connection Black Flag system got a sensitivity bump, better accuracy, and reduced spotter message frequency. These changes come after analyzing tons of race data, so expect smarter flagging.
- Tire Model: Fixed a bug where tire set limits weren’t scrapped once a session turned wet. This affected both race rules and tire restrictions.
- Telemetry: Safety Ratings in the session string no longer show a leading zero, tidying up the data display.
Cars
- ARCA Series Class Cars: iRacing setups have been updated for better handling.
- NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen Class Cars: Rear panels in the damage model are now a bit tougher.
- NASCAR Truck Series Class Trucks: Fixed an issue where front-end damage incorrectly shifted aero balance forward; it now shifts rearward as expected.
- Supercars Gen 3 Series Class Cars: Increased aero balance shift when front-end damage occurs, making damage effects more noticeable.
- BMW M2 CSR: Upshifting feels smoother, which should help with gear transitions.
Tracks
- Homestead Miami Speedway: Fred, the pace car AI, has been retrained to avoid crashing through the extended wall at pit entry. Also, fixed floating fans that appeared when grandstands were removed.
- Mount Washington Auto Road: The “Are You Afraid of The Dark?” award now grants properly.
- Road America: The barn area got a visual update with a new silo and banner ads.
These fixes and tweaks might not disrupt your racing world overnight, but they show iRacing’s commitment to refining the experience. Have you noticed any changes on track after this patch? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
