Icarus Week 213 introduces tag-based fish crafting and mammoth fixes

RocketWerkz released Icarus Week 213 on Steam on January 1, 2026, adding tag-based crafting for fish and a handful of mounts and recipe tweaks aimed at cutting recipe clutter and making fish work the way players expect.

The headline change is a new tag system for crafting ingredients. Instead of creating one recipe per fish species, the game can now accept any item marked with a [fish] tag. That makes campfire cooking and bench recipes far cleaner, especially after the Gallileo additions that expanded the game to 60+ fish types.

The update restores some mount UI elements after player feedback: the Cargo and Talents tabs were returned so mounts with large inventories are easier to manage. Mammoth mounts also got mechanical attention: Crushing Blow now has a doubled stomp radius and the secondary attack deals double damage. Woolly Mammoths were added to the Southern Prometheus arctic to make them more accessible on that map.

Fish mechanics changed in a few practical ways. Steamed Fish are back and can be crafted from any caught fish at campfires. Players can convert fish into Fish Chunks on the Player, Butchery, or Fishing Bench, and fillet recipes now accept any fish tagged [saltwater] or [freshwater]. The Filleting Station on the Fishing Bench is no longer an auto-crafter; recipes must be selected manually now that it handles both chunks and fillets.

Quality-of-life adjustments include a longer spoil time for Dried Fish (800s -> 2000s) and some mount UI usability fixes. Week 213 also marks the last week of the current double XP event, and Icarus remains discounted in the Steam winter sale.

If you want context on the recent rhythm of updates, the prior Week 211 update added new enemies and an Arachnophobia mode; see the Week 211 update for the earlier changes coverage.
