A detailed overview of the balance changes in Update 2.3 for Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Crytek made several balance changes to equipment, Traits, and more. These changes were based on player feedback and made to ensure gameplay was more balanced overall and that more diversity among games was encouraged. They have taken on the new balance changes to Hunt Showdown 1896 upcoming Update 2.3.

Equipment Balances

  • The Krag will now have slightly reduced extra ammo capacity (from 12 to 10) and the cost will increase to 450 Hunt Dollars, which is to urge more arsenal variety in games. These changes go hand-in-hand with a rebalance of the Berthier and Mosin Obrez and allows slotting the new Mosin Obrez Match and Sharpeye into the Long Ammo category. The Berthier will now be the strongest of the Carbines, while the base Obrez will be the weakest. We want to position these Carbines as more viable alternatives to the full-size, Long Ammo, bolt-action rifles, such as the Krag, Lebel, and Mosin Nagant.
  • In a similar vein, the Uppercut will be made cheaper again, dropping to 310 Hunt Dollars. While the Uppercut remains one of the most used handguns and an excellent sidearm in the game, we felt that with recent nerfs around ballistics, damage, and extra ammo, the price didn’t represent the Uppercut’s true power level anymore; hence why it was reduced. The Haymaker was adjusted for the same reasons and was reduced from 370 to 279 Hunt Dollars.
  • It will now require three Bear Traps to kill an enemy Hunter—preventing players from using a single Tool slot choice that allows for easy insta-kills out of the box. Players are expected to use extra traps found in the world or equip the Frontiersman Trait to increase carried capacity. In general, players should try to use different types of traps creatively or use mechanics found in-world like explosive barrels to stack damage.
  • Melee Tools will cause more damage to Boss and Wild Targets; there are also more melee weapons spawning near Boss Target lairs again.
  • Pulling out projectiles from hit monsters and Hunters will cause meaningful damage again—rewarding players who are brave enough to get up close for their blades, Bolts, and Arrows during combat. The Berserker Trait still applies double damage here; however, Blademancer Trait no longer provides any pull-out damage when retrieving objects as we felt this advantage had become too strong following last Event’s balancing concerns.
  • The Vetterli has been given an improved rate-of-fire when ADS with Iron Eye Trait while Centennial’s rate-of-fire has been reduced slightly at once—a very subtle change swapping both guns’ performance under ADS conditions with Iron Eye involved.
  • Players can now disarm Dark Dynamite Satchels while picking them back into their inventory (if they possess free slots).
  • We have reduced duration for Stamina Shots & Regeneration Shots.
  • Basing on feedback from our players along with internal teams—we have decided upon removing Revive Bolt altogether due its unsatisfactory test results regarding balance/readability concerns reflecting community worries surrounding item usage criteria versus competitive environment integrity issues; all previously purchased instances within your inventory shall get reimbursed accordingly upon enactment date!

Trait Changes

Check out some of these interesting adjustments:

  • The Lightfoot Trait no longer allows silent crouching for solo Hunters—noting unanimous community feedback against eliminating footsteps detection entirely—very important towards player engagements! Future improvements targeting solo play may still come if needed though!
  • The Surefoot Trait loses its faster crouch speed while going up-in-cost hitting six Upgrade Points total.
  • A Fast Fingers Trait joins Martini-Henry IC1 & Maynard Sniper families enabling certain weapons benefitting directly off specialized traits instead other than Fanning or Levering styles—for instance Martini-Henry IC1 enjoys large boosts compared two-stage reload burden placed upon Maynard Sniper models!
  • The Bolt Thrower Trait gains compatibility extending toward Bomb Lance/Bomb Launcher catering long-standing requests aimed primarily helping diversify Hunter specialization opportunities further!
  • The Conduit trait rewards Solo Hunters by doubling stamina gains alongside progressing two Clue steps through singular interaction—previously problematic depending chosen playstyle hampers these functionalities but solved through alterations granting consistent progress/results visibility thus improving gameplay flow smoothly!
  • Pricing adjustments affect several Traits including Surefoot (now six Upgrade Points raised), Greyhound (five down priced down towards solely two Upgrade points), Determination (from four cut neat one!).

Bug Fixes

This update comes packed with essential bug fixes addressing long-standing challenges:

  • A refactor regarding poison damages prevents issues where effects wouldn’t disappear correctly any longer resolving prior inconsistencies affecting gameplay experiences positively overall!
  • No longer shall hanging chains/sound traps block attacks during combat scenarios enhancing tactical possibilities faced during clashes significantly making encounters feel fairer across board whilst interesting friendly foes !
  • The concertina wire issue causing damaging incidents through walls/ceilings gets addressed ensuring hits only occur visibly present without invisible pitfalls lurking behind obstacles hindering competitiveness amongst hunters battling against each other victoriously yet fairly without ambush tactics being overpowered by invisible hazards unexpectedly creeping around corners ominously lurking just outside sightlines nowadays halted following implementations today put forth!

Lucky news continues—Weekly Challenges randomized weekly sets help reduce chance individual weapons dominating entire weeks leading interesting variations across Events ahead! Complete same challenges within given time frame while varying orders presenting fresh opportunities every week keep things lively throughout hunts thus heightening enjoyment levels markedly!

This vital update arrives on March 26th 2025 marking key transitions toward performance updates alongside quality-of-life improvements initiating interesting times lying ahead dear community members! Hope everyone engages swiftly embracing event fun together! What do you think about these changes?
