Hunt: Showdown 1896 Developer Insight Reveals Update 2.3 Focused on Performance and Balance

Update 2.3 aims to improve gameplay stability and address weapon balance concerns.

As we enter 2025, the team behind Hunt: Showdown 1896 is launching a concerted effort to focus on performance, fixes, and building player trust. This commitment comes alongside an eagerness to tackle some of the community’s concerns regarding new features and overall game balance in the upcoming updates.

The developers have shared that from Update 2.3 onward, they plan to reverse certain decisions made in previous updates concerning weapon power creep and Traits while also addressing long-standing gameplay issues. This shift will be paired with increased attention to stability, bug fixes, and performance improvements for an improved gaming experience.

Patch Notes for Update 2.3

This update is particularly notable as it prioritizes adjustments over new content. Here’s what players can expect:

  • The Lightfoot Trait no longer allows for silent crouching for solo Hunters.
  • Revive Bolts are now Scarce; they can only be looted from dead Hunters and come with less ammunition (further revisions are planned).
  • The Krag will see a slight reduction in extra ammo capacity (from 12 to 10) and will cost more at 450 Hunt Dollars to promote variety in arsenals.
  • The Uppercut price has been lowered again, now costing just 310 Hunt Dollars.
  • The Surefoot Trait will no longer provide faster crouch speed and will cost up to 6 Upgrade Points.
  • Killing an enemy Hunter with Bear Traps now requires three traps instead of one; this change aims to prevent easy insta-kill setups without additional tools or Traits.
  • Melee Tools will inflict more damage on Targets, plus melee weapons will spawn more frequently near Boss Target lairs.
  • Pull-out damage from stuck projectiles has returned to a meaningful level of impact; further discussions around its interaction with Traits like Blademancer and Berserker are forthcoming.

Alongside these adjustments, the development team has tackled some persistent bugs that have challenged players:

  • The poison damage system has been refactored so effects disappear correctly after application.
  • Sonic traps like hanging chains should no longer block attacks during combat scenarios.
  • Concertina wire is fixed; it won’t deal damage through walls or ceilings anymore.

A sneak peek at some anticipated changes coming in Update 2.3 includes:

  • Addition of the Fast Fingers Trait for Martini-Henry IC1 and Maynard Sniper families.
  • The Bolt Thrower Trait is now compatible with Bomb Lance and Bomb Launcher items.
  • Weekly Challenges will rotate randomly each week, decreasing the odds of specific weapons dominating playtime.
  • The Conduit Trait provides solo Hunters double stamina rewards while progressing two Clue steps per interaction.
  • An improved rate-of-fire for the Vetterli when using the Iron Eye Trait; conversely, Centennial’s rate-of-fire sees a slight reduction.
  • Players can disarm Dark Dynamite Satchels and store them back into their inventory if space allows!

This update is set lighter on fresh content but carries a promise of vital bug fixes that could make your hunting experience smoother than ever before! As mentioned previously by developers last year, while there’ll still be unique events rolling out throughout this year ahead—these may occur less frequently as priority shifts toward fixing core gameplay elements over introducing new mechanics or content.

The developers firmly believe this path leads toward consolidation and stabilization of Hunt: Showdown 1896. More detailed insights about Update 2.3’s contents, as well as future Events, will be shared soon.
