How to Survive Your First Nights in Dying Light: The Beast

Techland shares survival tips and night dangers for Dying Light: The Beast available today on Xbox Series X|S

Dying Light: The Beast from Techland is out now, and the studio published a short primer on surviving the game’s deadlier nights. The guide explains core threats, basic crafting priorities, and why the night changes everything in Castor Woods.

Players return as a changed Kyle Crane, warped by experiments and carrying new, brutal abilities that trade control for raw power. The world of Castor Woods mixes tourist towns, forests, and swamps with a dynamic day-night clock that matters more than usual. Daytime is about scavenging and parkour, while night brings faster, smarter Volatiles and massive Chimeras that demand different tactics. For historical context, the original Dying Light established those rules, and Techland has pushed them further here.

What You Should Know Before You Start

Before venturing into Castor Woods, remember that fights are rarely simple and noise draws attention. Movement and stealth often beat a head-on brawl, and crafting gives access to tools that change encounters. Fuel and vehicle upkeep matter for exploration and flamethrower use. Safe zones act as checkpoints to rest, stash items and work at a bench.

  • Be careful of Biters: Lone Biters are manageable but packs are deadly. Use crowd control items like Molotovs or decoys to separate groups.
  • Crafting is the key: Gather parts in Dark Zones to build weapons and upgrades. Unique items live inside those zones for collectors.
  • Change your pace at Night: Night-time Volatiles have increased senses and hunt in packs. Move slower, hide when possible, or sprint for the nearest safe spot if chased.

Expect tense night raids, brutal melee options that let Kyle rip enemies apart, and a push-pull between survival and giving in to the Beast within. The game leans on parkour for escape and positioning, and co-op lets up to four players share progression while tackling tougher encounters together. Watch the clock and keep fuel and parts stocked so loud gear doesn’t leave you stranded. These are just small tips that should indeed help you course throughout the nights easier.
