Dota 2’s most recent Crownfall update has introduced a whole Battle Pass to grind. Many haven’t discovered this yet, but it also added a new fishing mini-game, which allows players to catch fish and compete with friends for the top of the leaderboards.
Fishing with Tidehunter is a mini-game available in the main quest, Midgate. The game is quite simple to play, and you need to cast the lure, hook a fish and then maintain balance using the left mouse button to catch it. Pretty simple, but there’s a couple of tricks I can teach you.
Recently, I’ve been playing this a lot between matches, and have competed with friends on who would be better. I’ve got to 14.5k points, and the methods I’ve been using are the following:
Try to catch the biggest fish possible, especially if it’s sparkling. Small sparkling fishes won’t necessarily give you tons of points. That’s where you’d go for the big ones rather than losing time to catch the small ones. Check the image below to see what I mean by Sparkling:
The other thing I’d say is:
Wait for the fish you want to catch to go the furthest distance so you can use max power on the cast. This gives you an extra 200 points, which is a total of 1000 considering the 5 throws.
That’s about it. Also, make sure you catch a fish on each throw. Each consecutive successful catch will give you extra points, so make sure you don’t fail the consecutive throws.
