Have you been waiting impatiently for any news about Hollow Knight: Silksong. Team Cherry has given us a peek into the status of this highly-anticipated sequel, and I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement!
Matthew Griffin, the PR and marketing guru behind the game, took to X to respond to fans’ pleas for updates. He confirmed “Yes, the game is real, progressing and will release.” It might not be the full-on trailer we’ve been dreaming of, but it’s something!
Yes the game is real, progressing and will release. <3

The last time we heard anything substantial was back in May 2023 when Team Cherry announced some delays. Griffin mentioned how they had aimed for a release in early 2023 but decided to take their time with development. Honestly? That’s music to my ears! When it comes to games like this, taking extra time usually pays off.
Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was first revealed in February 2019, promises over 150 new enemies and a brand new kingdom. Plus, there’s going to be a Silk Soul mode, which adds a fresh layer of difficulty after your first playthrough. For those who thrive on challenges—this could be your jam!
This upcoming title will be available on multiple platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. What’s more? It’ll launch day one on Game Pass! How cool is that?
-
- New Kingdom – A completely new area to explore.
- Over 150 New Enemies – Get ready for some intense battles.
- Silk Soul Mode – A challenging new difficulty setting post-first playthrough.
- The game is still progressing with no specific release date yet.
I know we’ve all been counting down the days (or at least hoping) since that announcement back in 2019! So what do you think about this update? Are you hopeful for what’s coming next? Let me know your thoughts below or tweet me your reactions!
