Helldivers 2 Will Double Its Level Cap to 300, and Your Old XP Counts
Players who continued earning experience after reaching level 150 will receive levels based on their stored XP when the new cap goes live.

Helldivers 2 will raise its level cap from 150 to 300 as part of a broader progression update. The change was announced on August 6, 2026, though no release date was provided. Players who kept completing missions after reaching level 150 will not lose that progress.
The upcoming update will also add Galactic War Campaigns and Personal Campaign Progression tracks. These systems will give players more goals to pursue beyond the community-wide Major Order system, including when a campaign does not end in Super Earth’s favor.
The details come from the latest Steam announcement, which confirms that the new level ceiling will be part of a wider overhaul rather than a simple number increase.
From level 50 to level 300
Helldivers 2 launched with a level cap of 50. That limit increased to 150 in April 2024, and the next progression update will double it again. The new range is aimed at players who want a long-term prestige chase after unlocking the gear that matters for regular loadouts.
Weapons, stratagems, and other important equipment become available by around level 25. Levels beyond that point mainly show how much time a player has spent fighting through the Galactic War. Reaching level 150 already requires many hours and hundreds of missions across numerous campaigns, while reaching level 300 will take more than twice that effort.
That means the new cap should not change how newer players build their loadouts. Players still working toward level 150 can continue along the same path, while the stretch from 150 to 300 will offer extra ranks, titles, and bragging rights for long-term divers.
Experience earned past level 150 will carry over
The best news is aimed at players who reached the current cap and continued diving. Helldivers 2 has been tracking the experience earned beyond level 150, even though the displayed level could not increase.
Once the new limit goes live, the game will compare each player’s total XP against the new level table. That will produce an immediate promotion based on the missions already completed. Players will not need to repeat old missions or start the climb from level 150 again.
The same system was used when the cap increased from 50 to 150. Players who continued earning XP after hitting the old limit logged in to find that their stored progress had converted into several new levels, with some gaining dozens. The upcoming increase is expected to work in the same way.
For anyone who has been running Super Helldive missions after reaching level 150, those dives have still been counting. The next update should reveal how far that stored experience can take each veteran diver.
Helldivers 2’s new progression tracks and higher cap will give its most dedicated players more milestones to chase, while keeping the core equipment path intact for everyone else. The timing for the update remains unannounced.
