Helldivers 2 is talking with creativity, but Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO Shams Jorjani admits the team can’t bring every idea to life because they simply don’t have enough hands on deck. It’s a relatable struggle, and Jorjani summed it up perfectly using a memorable line from Star Wars.
For those who might not recall, there’s a moment in the original trilogy where Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod, the commander responsible for rebuilding the second Death Star, explains to Darth Vader that he’s short on manpower to finish the project on time. Jorjani referenced this exact exchange, quoting Jerjerrod’s plea: “I need more men.” It’s a fitting metaphor for the development process at Arrowhead.
“We get like a bajillion ideas a minute,” Jorjani shared in a message on the game’s official Discord channel. “We don’t lack ideas; we lack manpower.” That’s a pretty honest take, and it highlights how the creative well is overflowing, but the team’s resources are finite.
Helldivers 2 is definitely packed with cool concepts. The CEO even promised he won’t rest until a chainsword makes its way into the game, which is a pretty wild promise for a co-op shooter. Alongside that, the developers plan to improve performance and add support for technologies like DLSS, which should help the game run smoother.
Jorjani also mentioned that a potential Helldivers 3 is still years away. The focus remains on ensuring Helldivers 2 stays strong and lasts as long as possible, provided it maintains a steady player base. That means updates and new content will continue, but the team wants to perfect this chapter before moving on to the next.
