Players and creators around Helldivers 2 have spent the past week trading barbs and accusations after several YouTubers said they were shut out of Arrowhead’s creator program or pushed to alter critical content. The row centered on the studio’s so-called “propaganda commanders” feed and grew loud enough that Arrowhead’s CEO publicly addressed the situation.
At the heart of the complaints is Eravin, a long-running Helldivers 2 content creator who says he was effectively ignored after applying to the program and that past criticism of the studio led to repeated friction. A former program member, LtBuzzLitebeer, has also said he was removed after refusing to excise a portion of a video that Arrowhead reportedly questioned. Those claims circulated across social posts and spilled into Steam reviews.
The back-and-forth has unfolded against a backdrop of wider frustration with technical problems. Many creator posts and Discord messages express frustration with performance and stability, prompting Arrowhead to pause some updates and focus on fixes. Console PC Gaming covered that pause in depth in a recent piece about the company halting new content while it sorts performance problems. Amid the noise, CEO Shams Jorjani chimed in on Discord. He said, “Honestly, I’m not super plugged into what’s happening – focusing on other things.”
When a user pressed on claims that Eravin had been “ghosted” or treated unprofessionally, Jorjani added, “One thing I’ll say is that we work with a partner for the propaganda commanders. So I’ll have to check in there and see what’s what.” The studio also maintains an official account on X.
The exchange has left parts of the community sour. Some creators announced they are stepping back, and a Discord channel tied to Helldivers has been hot with departures and complaints. The dispute is mainly about access and expectations. Players and creators who want unfettered critique see program rules as a curb on honest coverage. Developers and studios see creator programs as a way to coordinate promotion and feedback. For now, Arrowhead’s CEO appears to be handing follow-up to a partner who helps manage that program, which will likely be the place to watch for any account-level changes.
