Halo Infinite is bringing back some good old Halo 3 vibes with a new Delta Arena playlist inspired by that era. If you’ve missed the classic Halo gameplay feel, this update might just hit the spot. It’s like stepping back to the Xbox 360 days, but with the current Halo Infinite engine powering the action.
The playlist, Delta Arena: Halo 3 Legacy, follows in the footsteps of earlier legacy playlists that paid homage to Halo 2 and Halo 3. It’s designed to make gameplay feel familiar with some key adjustments: no sprint, no clamber, increased jump height, and friendly player collision all contribute to that classic movement style.
Players can jump into modes like Team Slayer, Oddball, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag (both One Flag and normal), and Assault (One Bomb and Neutral Bomb). What’s neat is that each mode comes in two versions based on starting weapons: one with MA5K starters and another with BR75 starters. The eternal debate about beginning with the battle rifle or the assault rifle continues here, and the developers will track which gets more playtime to decide what stays after the operation ends.
Maps included in this playlist cover many fan favorites from the Halo 3 era and a few throwbacks:
- Isolation: A Flood containment facility with blistered walls and tight quarters.
- Snowbound: Snow-covered Covenant bases with tunnels and sentry turrets.
- Guardian: Known for gravity lifts and man cannons, great for objective modes.
- Narrows: Three-lane map featuring man cannons and a bridge—watch your step!
- Construct: A vertically oriented map with many angles of attack.
- Ghost Town: Ruins and broken bridges offering plenty of hiding spots.
- Cold Storage: Flood research facilities deep inside Installation 05.
- Ivory Tower: A classic throwback from Halo: Reach with great sightlines.
- Foundry: Originally from the Heroic Map Pack, this one’s a Forger favorite.
- The Pit: The classic competitive map, balanced and symmetrical.
- High Ground: Excels at objective modes, with a hill to storm and Mongoose rides available.
You can bookmark all these modes individually on Halo Waypoint, with links provided for both Legacy and BR versions to save for later. It’s kinda nice to have that choice right at your fingertips.
As you play, the developers will be watching which modes and weapon starts players prefer, and your choices will influence what remains available after the Operation Legacy wraps up. It’s a cool way to have some say in the playlist’s future.
Are you someone who leans towards the MA5K or the BR75? Which map do you think will become your go-to? I’m curious to hear what you all think about this throwback playlist and if it scratches that nostalgic itch.
