The team behind Halls of Torment has shared a tantalizing glimpse at their upcoming free update and the new Supporter Pack, which will arrive early next year. While we’ll have to wait until late January or February for the full release, there’s plenty to unpack from this preview, including fresh artifacts, gameplay tweaks, and cosmetic enhancements.

The developers take a thoughtful approach by balancing new content with performance improvements and addressing bugs. This is welcome planning that reflects their commitment to the community’s feedback while ensuring players enjoy an optimized experience.

Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming free update:

Free Update 01

  • Six new artifacts aimed at increasing challenge levels, coupled with rebalancing of the Torment Levels. Notably, enemy damage and movement speed will see a reduced increase.
  • A range of new items designed to improve gameplay mechanics:
    • Elemental Capacitor (Necklace): Grants damage bonuses for Burn, Spark, and Frost effects.
    • Beast Master’s Hide (Body): Summons beasts that fight alongside you but disappear after taking damage.
    • Demonic Grasp (Footwear): Spawns hands that grab enemies as you move around.
    • Ability Signet (Ring): Allows upgrading an ability three times without unequipping it.
  • A host of technical improvements focused on in general performance stability, always a plus!

The Ability Signet is particularly intriguing, its synergy with the Sage’s Mark opens up exciting possibilities for character builds. It’s these kinds of innovations that keep seasoned players engaged while offering newcomers a chance to explore deep into building planning without overwhelming complexity.

Supporter DLC

The paid Supporter Pack promises some fun visual updates without altering gameplay dynamics:

  • An alternative cosmetic skin for each character, because who doesn’t want their avatar looking fresh?
  • A trio of customizable HUD designs, let’s face it, aesthetics matter when you’re slaying hordes!
  • A dedicated training area allowing players to test setups in a more controlled environment, a much-needed feature for those who love experimenting with different builds before explore into intense battles.

This blend of free content and paid enhancements showcases balanced planning to expand player engagement while respecting the community’s investment in the game. A heartfelt thank you from Chasing Carrots acknowledges how valuable player feedback has been in shaping future updates, a sentiment echoed across many indie titles today. You can find more details about these changes directly from the source here.

The roadmap looks promising as they continue working on console support and plans for additional content DLCs slated for 2025. We’re all excited to see how these developments unfold!
