If you’ve ever found yourself daydreaming about what could have been in Half-Life 2: Episode 3, I’ve got some delightful news for you. The modding team behind Half-Life 2: Episode 3 Interlude has just dropped a demo that gives us a tantalizing taste of their vision for this long-awaited chapter.

This demo allows us to step into the shoes of Gordon Freeman as he wakes up in the aftermath of a downed helicopter with the relentless Combine on his tail. It’s all based on Marc Laidlaw’s Epistle 3, so fans can expect some familiar elements mixed with fresh ideas.

The team is already hard at work on Part 2, which promises to continue the story and address community feedback from Part 1. They plan to tweak those pesky puzzles and improve flashlight mechanics while introducing new features. Sounds like they’re listening! If you’re wondering about Half-Life 3, whispers have been circulating lately about potential internal tests at Valve for a new installment in this beloved series. Add to that some cryptic tweets from the voice actor of G-Man, and suddenly, everything feels more intriguing. But let’s keep our excitement in check. After all, HL3 fans have had their hearts broken before!

If you’re itching to get your hands on something exciting right now, why not give the demo a whirl? While it may not have all the polish of an official release, it’s still an enjoyable experience worth checking out. You can download it straight from here.

And if you’re keen on more mods inspired by Half-Life lore, don’t miss out on other demos like Half-Life: Return to Stratigrad or check out Project Borealis. There are plenty of adventures waiting for you!
