Gunsmith – Old Friend’s Request

Gunsmith – Old Friend’s Request is a standalone side quest from Mechanic that steps away from the usual progression-focused Gunsmith chain. This one is not required for the Kappa container and doesn’t lead into another Gunsmith task. Instead, it’s framed as a personal favor tied to Mechanic’s past, and it asks you to recreate a very specific loadout from someone’s early military days.

Rather than modifying a single weapon, you’ll need to prepare three separate firearms: a PP-19-01 Vityaz, an ORSIS T-5000M, and a Glock 17. Each build has strict attachment requirements, so attention to detail matters more here than raw stats.

Gunsmith – Old Friend’s Request

Dialogue

Hello. Do you ever find yourself crossing paths with a classmate decades after high school and hardly recognizing them? Although, I’d likely shock some of the folks from my class myself. Recently, a certain guy from my school days reached out to me. After school, he went into the army, wanting to join the special forces… It was clear even then that he had a peculiar, uh, aptitude for that job.

Somehow he found me here and asked me for a favor. He wants to remember his early years in basic training. I’m not a big fan of that sort of hospitality, plus I’ve got heaps of work to do. But let me put it this way: he was, um, very insistent. I don’t need any more trouble, so I agreed to his deal, hoping you’d help me sort it all out.

People say this kind of equipment used to be somewhat standard issue at his job: ORSIS T-5000, Vityaz and a Glock 17. All with the special mods, of course. The rifle was equipped with an ATACR 7-35×56 34mm scope, Harris bipod, and a suppressor. I can’t recall which exact one, but any suitable silencer will do.

For the Vityaz, I need the Micro T-1 red dot with a spacer, Zenit RK-6 front grip and RK-3 pistol grip, PT-3 Klassika buttstock. I also need a PEQ-15, Klesch-2P flashlight, and the standard Vityaz suppressor.

The Glock is simple. Replace the barrel with the Double Diamond threaded one and its thread protector, add a Pachmayr Grip Glove, a Klesch-2P flashlight, and a 21-round extended magazine. I think that’s everything.

Requirements

  • Must be level 17 to start this quest.

Objectives

  • Modify a PP-19-01 to comply with the given specifications.
  • Modify a T-5000M to comply with the given specifications.
  • Modify a Glock 17 to comply with the given specifications.

Rewards

  • +21,930 EXP
  • Mechanic Rep +0.04
  • 155,000 Roubles
  • 162,750 Roubles with Intelligence Center Level 1
  • 178,250 Roubles with Intelligence Center Level 2
  • Unlocks purchase of Ballistic plate case at Mechanic LL2

Alright, let me check the attachment list. Okay, my friend will be very pleased. It’s amazing that there’s still room for some nostalgia in all of us, even if the conditions around us burn out all other emotions.
