While previously it was just an unconfirmed number, now, Take-Two Interactive is proud to announce that GTA 5 has sold over 150 million units since its launch. In today’s financial earnings call, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that over 150 million GTA 5 units were sold worldwide. 150 million copies in a time span of 8 years. A success hardly to be forgotten. Furthermore, the company is expecting the next-gen launch, available on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles that could indicate another bolster.
Overall, the GTA franchise has sold over 350 million copies, cumulatively speaking. But, no rush at all, who needs Grand Theft Auto 6? It is more than certain that the parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is very satisfied with the outcome of Rockstar Games’ GTA 5. Hence, Rockstar Games can focus its work on the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto series without pressure, which is very vital in the gaming industry. Especially nowadays, when game developing companies face various turbulences.
On the other side, we have Red Dead Redemption 2 with over 38 million units sold since its launch in 2018. Lesser number of sales in a lower time span, but still a strong and imminent contribution to the company’s success overall.
The multiplayer counterparts in both of these games cannot be forgotten, as both GTA Online and Red Dead Online are continuously receiving new updates with solid content for players to delve in. So, who’s in rush for GTA 6? Apparently, we can just sit back, relax, and let the devs work on their masterpiece. Once it’s ready, it will come out.
