Grounded 2’s Hairy and Scary update launches today, and the big headline is a new boss: AXL, a giant tarantula with “eight legs, razor-sharp fangs, and enough hair to make your skin crawl,” according to Obsidian. Beat it and you score a fuzzy tarantula armor set plus a matching bow and spear. 😬🕷️
This update also enhances building with a new grid system, allowing you to snap structures into place more precisely. There are new fast travel options via pneumatic tubes sprinkled across the world, improvements to let you do more from the top of your Buggy, and a plague doctor-styled Praying Mantis outfit for players who like a little flair.
October brings some seasonal-only treats. You can buy the Trick-or-Treatery Building from the Ranger Station and enjoy “new spooky ambiances.” And yes, Candy Corn replaces some resources in the world during the month, which will make some players either giddy or slightly nauseous. 🍬
This update changes boss battles, base building, and how the world looks for anyone playing this month, so whether you hate spiders or secretly love candy corn, there’s something that affects your run. Leave a comment and tell us how AXL treats you. Follow us on X and Bluesky.
