Gray Zone Warfare developer MADFINGER Games told players in a Community Briefing that Update 0.4 has grown in scope and will not launch before the end of the year, with no firm release date to share. The briefing says the studio is working on new content plus major changes across core systems as it moves toward a longer-term vision of a true tactical sandbox, and that the extra time is needed to get those systems right. The post also confirms the team plans one more patch before 0.4 and one more community live stream tied to an in-game Christmas event.
The developers posted a recorded Community Briefing video for players to watch. You can find it below:
Before 0.4 arrives, MADFINGER plans to release Patch 0.3.6.0 with a primary focus on crash fixes once the most recent issues are resolved. That mirrors the studio’s recent push to stabilize the build after a string of performance and crash reports tied to the engine upgrade and other changes. Console PC Gaming has been tracking the post-0.3.5 cycle closely. Our coverage of the Patch 0.3.5.0 public test covered the team’s focus on AI aiming, first-person animation tweaks, weapon sway and recoil adjustments, and a slate of community bug fixes. The studio also published a dev stream VOD that listed measurable performance savings after an Unreal Engine 5.5 upgrade, including roughly 2 GB of RAM and 400 MB of VRAM in some scenarios, which we summarized in our deep dive VOD write up.
MADFINGER says it will share details about the 0.4 work and a release timetable once the team is confident in the systems and content. Until then the focus is on stability and finishing the larger systems changes the studio outlined in the briefing. Players who want to follow the developer directly should watch the Community Briefing and keep an eye on the studio’s official channels for patch notes and event invites.
