Gray Zone Warfare has just released Patch 0.3.3.0, addressing a variety of gameplay and technical issues reported by the community. This update is supposed to improve the overall experience with fixes to AI respawns, animations, rendering, and UI. If you’ve been playing, you might notice some subtle but helpful changes that add up nicely.
One notable gameplay adjustment is the increase in coma duration to 5 minutes, which should provide players with more breathing room when attempting to rescue teammates. Additionally, tracking tags won’t attach to storage cases, preventing wasted trackers since they can’t be removed from lockers. The default game mode now starts in Warfare, which should feel more intuitive for new players.
There are several fixes for AI behavior, including stopping infinite spawns at the gas station east of Fort Narith and correcting key drops at the Slang Radio Station. A rare bug that made players immune to damage from their own faction has been patched, along with an issue where tracking notifications triggered incorrectly after consuming food. You might also appreciate the fix that stops recent enemy shots from being heard again after respawning, which was kinda confusing.
On the animation front, the patch resolves missing hand animations when putting on NVGs and fixes rare cases where characters appear in a T-pose while prone. They also corrected some out-of-sync movements during cocking animations, which is a nice touch for immersion.
Visual fixes include resolving oversized reticles appearing outside weapons in third-person view and preventing player weapons from disappearing after reviving someone from a coma. Clothes now reliably render on NPC corpses, and holographic sights have been adjusted for better brightness and clarity across settings. Vegetation density for small plants, such as grass, is reduced on low graphics settings to improve performance.
The world itself got some attention too. The moon won’t look overly bright or overlap clouds when scoped, and a clipping spot on the road between Fort Narith and Sawmill was fixed. Wind socks in Fort Narith now rotate at a more natural speed.
Technical fixes include various RAM and server optimizations, crash fixes, and disabling file creation in the Skalla folder to prevent issues. Audio compression got optimized to reduce memory use, and a few loading screen hang-ups related to reconnecting or canceling maintenance were patched. Also, framerate capping problems when toggling frame generation and V-sync repeatedly have been addressed.
The UI improvements tidy up several small annoyances. Character names now correctly show “Operator” instead of “Nickname” in Streamer mode. Text fits better in the faction bonus window for all languages, and error messages appear properly when multiple players try to use the same consumable in a container. The weather forecast is now synced between the main menu and in-game, and maintenance notifications have been moved to avoid overlapping other elements. You can also pick between a localized compass or an English NATO compass, which is a neat option. Plus, the dollar balance in the locker now shows only one decimal if you have less than 10 dollars.
For those running custom servers, the patch fixes an incorrect error message when trying to join a full server, lets server owners shut down servers after wiping their character, and ensures the Operator tag applies correctly after leaving a server. The custom server option for fully unlocked characters has also been updated.
