Giant Skull, the studio started by ex-Respawn game director Stig Asmussen, has revealed it’s working on a new Dungeons & Dragons video game. This announcement came out Monday morning alongside Wizards of the Coast, who will publish the title.
The upcoming game is described as a single-player action-adventure set within the Dungeons & Dragons universe. While details remain sparse, the studio promises a world filled with storytelling, combat, and traversal elements. Asmussen shared, “Our talented and experienced team at Giant Skull is built on creativity and curiosity. Our goal is to craft a rich new Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with interesting storytelling, heroic combat and interesting traversal that players will fully embrace.”
The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will launch on both PC and console platforms. Beyond that, there’s little else known for now.
Giant Skull was formed earlier this year, in March 2024. Asmussen’s background includes directing the first two Star Wars Jedi games at Respawn and working on the God of War franchise during his time at Sony. His experience might bring a fresh perspective to this new D&D adaptation.
